I just installed Acrobat Reader DC on windows 8. I installed it because acrobat x would not print. I can open a PDF file , but when I try printing it, Acrobat says "not responding". When I open Acrobat Reader, and click on anything, Acrobat Reader says "not responding. The printer used is brother MFC-J625DW and only pdf cannot print. It works well for ms word though.

Please help, I need to print out document in PDF format.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for reaching out, As described above, print button results in not responding for Adobe Acrobat reader DC, correct?

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF or with any PDF file you try to print?

What is the version of the Adobe Reader installed? To check the version of the application please use the help article - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html

Check for any pending updates and try updating the application. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available please use the link  - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Please check the printer driver and firmware and try updating them to the latest version - https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcj625dw_all&os=119 and check.

Try printing the file as an image. Go to Print > Advanced > Print as Image and check if that helps.

If it doesn't work, try opening the PDF with Google Chrome. Right click the file  > open with Chrome. and try printing the file.

You may also try the troubleshooting steps provided in the help articles below:

Let us know how it goes.

Hi amal,

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF or with any PDF file you try to print? yes..the printer cannot print PDFs and will go into not responding mode whenever print command is chosen...

What is the version of the Adobe Reader installed? tried Adobe Reader DC or 11 but still doesn't work...

Try printing the file as an image. Go to Print > Advanced > Print as Image and check if that helps.

-> the print command is jammed and goes into not responding...

hope there are other workarounds that can print PDFs

btw, am using Windows 8...
