"Acrobat has encountered a problem. Some features may not work as expected" Server 2012 R2

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2021 Oct 26, 2021

Hello everybody.

A few days ago, colleagues of mine reported that the signing function was not working anymore. When they clicked on the signing page, they were shown the error "Acrobat has encountered a problem. Some features may not work as expected". When they clicked on "Learn More", they were forwarded to this website: Resolve errors related to the AcroCEF/RdrCEF processes of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrocef-rdrcef-errors.html)

I have tried multiple things:

- Update, Reboot

- Uninstall, Registry Clean, Re-Install

- Uninstall, AcroCleaner, Reboot, Re-Install

Nothing has worked. Right now, the error also appears a fes seconds after I have opened a PDF. I can click on "OK", but when I want to sign the document, it happends again.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Continuous Release 2021.007.20099, it is the 32-bit version. It runs on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.

Any suggestions? We need the signing-function in our day-to-day business on this Windows Server (most of us are Linux users) and I would be happy to be guided into the right direction 🙂 If I can provide any more useful information, please let me know.

Best

Daniel

I have been having the same problem. Very behind with having documents done as keep hoping that an update will fix the problem.
I'm surprised there has been no response.

Same issue here.  Adobe's virtual chat was useless and I can't find a link to email them.  Anyone make any progress?

Hi,

You can try disabling your antivirus or uninstalling the antivirus and check if it works after that.

So I have found a fix which works for us and it's the most simplest solution you could think of!
Simply press the check box for Don't show this message again and press Ok. This then allowed our users to sign PDF's again! No idea how it works but we tried it for multiple users and it works each time!
Hope this works for anyone else having this issue.

So, I just encountered this on Apple Silicon, Sonoma 14.1 running (at this time) latest 2023.006.20360 Universal version. I had to force quit the app, open "Get Info" on the app, and enable "Open using Rosetta". Haven't encountered issues since. Will report back if I find anything.

I had trouble with various tricks, but to my surprise, re-installing Acrobat resolved the issue. Now, all the tools remain in the menu without disappearing when I click on something.

Just ran into this issue but it was not with signing documents. It was just trying to edit them. found that the new Adobe Acrobat UI is not working properly. I switched back to the old UI by clicking the Menu, and disabling new Acrobat. Then no more issues.

Amazing Adobe doesn't have someone monitoring and assisting with issues such as this. Excellent solution provided! Works for me too!

I've found that by disabling Enhanced Security, this has resolved my issues.
