"Open with Adobe Acrobat reader" doesn't work

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

I have both Acrobat X Standard and Acrobat Reader DC (latest version) installed on a Windows 10 PC.

The startup services (eg Acrobat assistant, Speed launcher, etc) are disabled.

Everything works fine, except "Open with" Reader.

If I choose "Open with" Acrobat Reader, or open the file from command prompt, 2 copies of AcrRd32.exe show up on the services list, but nothing happens on screen.

However, if the same pdf file is opened from inside Acrobat Reader File>>Open, it works as intended.

What can I do to restore normal behaviour?

regards,

Ze

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Are you still facing this issue? If yes, try disabling protected mode by going into Preferences > Security ( Enhanced ) > uncheck the box next to Enable protected mode at startup > click OK and try again.

Note: Disabling protected mode is for troubleshooting purpose only, enable protected mode when troubleshooting is complete.

If this works, then you may-

1- Re-enable protected mode by navigating to Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)

2- Relaunch Reader

2- Relaunch Reader as an administrator: Run an Adobe program as administrator | Windows 7, Vista

as it could be a user account issue.

This doesn't exist on a mac nor work. I'm a recent subscriber and already ready to cancel if I can't use the program in Chrome.
