Reader 9 PDF printing problems

New Here ,
Aug 08, 2008 Aug 08, 2008
I have a Kyocera FS-C5015N. When I print any multi-page PDFs to the FS-C5015N, only the first page comes out or nothing at all. I have tracked the problem down to Adobe Reader 9. I say this because I can successfully print multi-page PDFs using version 8.2. But I cannot with v9. I have downloaded the latest drivers from Kyocera's website. Same problem. I can successfully print with Word, Excel, etc. just not Adobe Reader v9. Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Hello
Found a solution that get around the problem of only printing the first page from another forum, which i can no longer find? It involves changing setting in acrobat, file print, advanced, select postcript options, and then ahange 'Font and Resource Policy' to Send for Each Page?

We are having the same issue with Reader 8 or 9 and Canon IR 3200. I can use Adobe Standard 6 without an issue. However I am not going install my single copy of Adobe 6 on 150 computers.

JackOc :
Hello ! I had to download the Generic Post Script Printer at Adobe , then the pages would print OK and not in Reverse . But my HP Printer would only print 5 pages at a time, as it is for home use and not commercial so it does not have enough memory to take all the 89 pages i was trying to print from a CD for the DVD-VCR player that we just bought . You may want to try that ! as it took me 4 days to figure it out . The Generic Post Script Printer is free from Adobe and i think they are listed under Products . But if you can not find it let me know and i will post the link for you .

I have the same problem but not with postscript. I'm using an inkjet. Reader 9 prints only the LAST page of a pdf. Printer dialog says printing 1 of 1 no matter how big the doc is.

Mac Preview prints multi-page pdfs just fine.

I couldn't use Reader 8 because it always crashed. Now I'm not going to use Reader 9 either. I'm trying to solve too many other Adobe failures to bother with this.

Unless there's a simple solution, I'll use Preview or Acrobat Pro.

I am having the same problem, We tried print a range of pages using Reader 9.0 and regardless of the range given, it will only print the first page of the range. We have over 15 printers HP Laserjets and Canon iRs on our network using PCL, PS and UPF drivers. It behave exactly the same way on every printer we tried.

While using the same PDF document, we tried the same print range operation using Adobe Reader 8.x and it printed the complete range of pages with no problems!!

This translate that is NOT a driver issue or anything of that nature, IT IS SIMPLY ADOBE READER 9 WENT OUT TO THE MARKET WITH LOTS OF BUGS!!!

Adobe please fix the problem!!!

Currently using Windows XP Professional machines with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Users cannot print PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro in Colour to the TOSHIBA eStudio 3150c machine - i.e. The 2nd page doesn't print or double-sided printing doesn't work or you get errors when you try to print the PDF document.
I've found these instructions help (see below), but really need a FIX for this recurring problem!!
Change the font and resource policy to Send for Each Page.
Note: Your printer drivers must be PostScript capable to use this procedure.

Change the font and resource policy to Send for Each Page.

Note: Your printer drivers must be PostScript capable to use this procedure.

Open Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
Choose File > Print.
Click the Advanced button.
The pop-up window that appears will look different depending on what print driver you have installed. If your driver is PostScript capable, then there should be a PostScript Options section.
In the PostScript Options section, change the "Font and Resource Policy" dropdown to "Send for Each Page".
The document then should print as per normal.

If you can print each page, perhaps the printer needs more RAM or
perhaps your computer system is running low on resources (could be RAM,
free hard disk spsce or for earlier versions of Windows system pointers).

It is not a RAM issue for us. The reason I say this is that I can print PDFs just fine with Adobe Reader 8. That is to say, I uninstall Adobe Reader 9 from a machine, install Adobe Reader 8, and tada, the multi-page PDF prints just fine. However, with Adobe Reader 9 installed we can only print one page at a time on multi-page PDFs. All multi-page PDFs we have tried are affected by the bug in Adobe Reader 9. Since so many different users are having the SAME problem with various printer models, it does seem the issue is with Adobe Reader 9. Will Adobe please acknowledge this problem and let us know when a fix will be available?

Peter...this is very simply a driver issue. Not ALL printers are having this issue. It seems to be certain Kyocera, Canon, and HP printers. Also if you will look at one of the previous posts the issue was resolved by changing settings in the PRINTER! I am sure Adobe is most likely trying to code a more forgiving solution but there is probabably not an update in the near future.

I do realize that not all printers are affected. However, the problem is clearly with Adobe Reader 9. The reason I say this is that the problem does NOT exist with Adobe Reader 8. The problem ONLY occurs with Adobe Reader 9. Furthermore, I am not sure what specific resolution to this printer you are referring to, but there hasn't been a solution presented thus far that is an actual fix for the problem. Originally, I identified that if I selected "Print to Image" the entire multi-page PDF would print as expected. Although, this solution causes the multi-page PDF to print very slowly (for the reasons noted by Mike). Another reader reported that if you install FoxIT PDF Reader, multi-page PDFs print just fine. I have verified that installing FoxIT Reader DOES INDEED allow me to print multi-page PDFs to our FS-C5015N. Again, if it was purely a driver issue, why would a multi-page PDF opened with FoxIT Reader print as expected while the same PDF opened with Adobe Reader 9, not print as expected? There also were a couple other posts about using the generic Kyocera KX driver. This is not an option for us. Finally, there was a post about changing the Post Script driver setings. We do not use the Post Script driver. And just as a side note, we have tried using the Post Script driver to see if this will resolve the multi-page PDF issue, and it does not. With that said, I implore Adobe to once again acknowledge this problem and provide users with a fix. This is a very frustrating problem.

This is pretty much a deal breaker for us... tested Reader 9, and it seemed to work great. Now I've rolled out the application via ZEN to a few hundred workstations, and now find out that there is a major printing issue. How soon van we expect a fix for this problem? The option to print as an image is for us, not an option.

Well i do not know if they are going to fix the problem or not , we had to down load a print driver from adobe. And that seamed to work , but also when i ran my vrius scanner it found 2 trogen horses from the adobe 9 down load . Try to run the AVG vrius scanner it picks up the trogen horses real fast if that is what it is . And then down load the print driver for your program from adobe . I use windows and the list has several drivers for different programs . Best of Luck

Also a problem printing with Reader 9. Mine is Lexmark Z32 - a home inkjet. This has worked for years, now it won't work with either MSWord 2003 or the Reader 9. I have re-installed original drivers, but I wonder of Windows Update places a new one there. The OS is still Windows 200o Pro.

There is one catch...if I print from a freshly open PDF all is fine - even with reverse print. Thereafter, only some pages of a specific set (pages x-y) are printed - usually some, but sometimes only 1.
I'll bet the same freshly MS Word document prints fine as well.

I have this same problem on my HP officejet 6110xi. I have eBooks that only print some pages and some parts. It works fine with Adobe 8 but not Adobe 9. I have a vista windows OS. I tried installing an HP patch for Vista but still only adobe 9 will not print all eBook pages. I print Excell and Word docs fine. Seems to me like Adobe 9 has the problem. Any suggestions for a fix?

If you Are Using the Kyocera KX Print Driver Change it to PCL rather then KPDL this should Resolve your Issue. It may help other whose printers may be using a Proprietary Print Language.
