Reader not accepting my signature the first time

Community Beginner ,
Oct 25, 2023 Oct 25, 2023

When attempting to sign a document in adobe reader.
I click "Fill and Sign"
I click "Sign Yourself"
I click my signature.
I apply my signature on the PDF.
It doesn't apply it.
Repeat steps above again.
It applies it the second time around.
This only happens on documents that were signed already by someone else.

Hi there

This is the designed behavior. as described earlier, once the PDF file is signed and the signature process is complete it gets locked for further editing.  For more information please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/edit-signed-PDF.html

Hi @Alec33159563bx9z

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different file and check.

Have you received this file via Adobe Sign or as an email attachment?

Once the PDF file is signed and the signature process is complete, it gets locked for further editing and even adding a new signature is not allowed.

Also, make sure you have the application updated to the recent version 23.06.20360, go to help > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Regards

Amal

It happens on every PDF that is signed already.
We don't use the digital signature feature. Just the fill and sign, so it doesn't prompt to save and lock the file.
First PDF I tried was emailed to me. Then I got one from our shared network. Then I created one myself.
After creating the PDF myself. I had realized that this issue only happens when the document is signed already, even if I sign it myself and then save and reopen and try to sign it again.
This issue is happening on 3 different Computer with 3 different users and 2 different versions of adobe.
I'm on the latest (23.06.20360) (Adobe Acrobat Reader).
One of the other users is on (23.003.20269) (Adobe Acrobat Standard)
The last person is on (23.06.20320) (Adobe Acrobat Reader)
Hope this helps you. Thank you kindly.

So this is only correct if you are on the none online licensed verison.
I have no issues with the latest and greatest version of Adobe Acrobat.
This issue seemed to be only with stand alone verisons.
