Reader protected mode crashes on copy

New Here ,
Jun 07, 2019 Jun 07, 2019

Hello

Reader protected mode keeps crashing if you try and copy something without clicking on the "Enable all features"

This seems to happen in the new version only 19.012.20034

i have had about 15 users report this to me and my team. They use Windows 7 or 10 64bit and have the newest windows updates.

Hi there,

the new Version 19.012.20036 seems to be the fix. I did need to delete the folder %localappdata%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC to completely get rid of the error message (sometimes the error message popped up after closing Adobe Reader DC).

Greetings,

Michael

Hey Ryanh,

As shared above, Reader protected mode keep crashing. Seems you have already tried disabling Protected mode and application works fine after that.

If this is the case, then you may refer to this article to understand why this happens and how it can be troubleshooted: Protected Mode troubleshooting | Adobe Reader

Let us know if you have manged to find the solution by now.

Thanks,

Akanchha

We have the same problem. It is very annoying, since we must either take a risk by disabling Protected Mode or retype large amounts of text that could be dealt with much more easily by copying. An answer would be very much appreciated.

Hi All,

I'm sorry for the delay in follow up.

Acrobat and Reader official update (19.012.20035) is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update early by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.

More information about this release is here: DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products

Let me know if it still doesn't makes any difference.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi,

I do have the exact same issue in my company. We do have the optional Update 19.012.20035 installed (German Version), still no improvement. This error is reliably reproducable. There are no more crashes after using the copy function as soon as I deactivate the Protected Mode.

Additional Information:

I am using a transform file (.mst) created with the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC (latest Version October 01, 2018: CustWiz1900820071_en_US_DC.exe) in the installation process. I did the following changes:

     - Personalization Options: suppress display of EULA

     - Installation Options: Run Installation - unattended, suppress reboot

     - Security: protected View - All files

     - Online Services and Features: online features - disable product updates true

                                                                                 - disable upsell true

Services Integration - Disable all services

Regards,

Michael

I can confirm that I have been having this problem too and installing version 19.012.20035 does not solve it. Disabling the protected mode solves the problem which I do not want to do because of security concerns.
