Hello all,
first of all I have to state that I am flabbergasted about the circumstance that I have to address this issue to a forum rather than to a technical support employee. Nevertheless, I hope someone knows the answer to my problem.
I want to connect different files with the "add or edit link" function of adobe reader. I supposed that Adobe Reader used relative links and at the start it all worked well - links were still working when moving the files into another directory. I tried to make it work onto another computer, however only one link still worked. The others were magically converted to absolute links.
I tried to fix that and it all seemed to work well, but at one point (maybe just after an automated saving, I am not sure) the links were again converted to absolute links.
Is someone familiar with that matter?
Kind regards!
Theodore
Yes, don't use a network drive.

What do you use? Adobe Reader can't add links.

Thanks for your answer, Bernd!
I am using Adobe Acrobat XI, 11.0.23, "Tools" > Add or Edit Link > Go To A Page View > then select Page for linking. Some links that were generated by this procedure seem to produce relative links and continue working when I move the directory, but at some point they were stopped working.
Sorry, but this inacurracy does not change my question, though. Above, I described the matter in more detail.

Make sure that all files are in a folder or subfolders of this folder.
Info Adobe Acrobat XI is old and unsupported.

Thanks for that info. Unfortunately, I do not have a newer version available.
All files are in the very same folder. Until now, I do not use a subfolder because I was testing that issue.
When I move these files to another folder to test that the links are still working, some work while others are not working. Is there a way to make sure that Acrobat saves the relative link?

When all files are in one folder Acrobat creates relative links.

I am pretty sure that this is not true for me. I can assure that I all files are in the very same working directory, but I am working on a network location. Does that change anything?

I am sorry, I wanted to reward Bernd for the correct answer. Unfortunately it went wrong...
