Resolve Delay/Freeze after opening PDF documents

After initially opening a pdf file the first page images immediately and then a second later the pages freeze and after a time you can scroll the pages again. I have noticed that this is a result of repeatedly closing the Acrobat application rather than closing the pdf file within the application. To avoid the delay/freeze, close the file itself with, [Ctrl+W], or, click the "small x" under the main window icons in the upper right, or finally, from the main menu "File>Close"

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

 

While you were able to get to a workaround, would you mind trying the steps given in the thread below to check if the issue persists or not: How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default

 

Also, I suggest you update the application to the latest version (go to Help-> Check for Updates)
