return rtf to pdf

I have files that were originally pdf; recently changed to rtf and I can't open them anymore like I used to. What to do?  They were changed suddenly and without my knowledge!

When you post a question you always need to tell the program you are using
There are MANY programs in a full subscription, plus other non-subscription programs
Please post the exact name of the Adobe program you use so a Moderator may move this message to that forum

That seems highly unlikely.  Computers can't just magically change files from one type to another.  You would need to consciously convert the documents yourself. Also PDF is nothing like RTF and vice versa. 

It seems more likely to me that your computer is associating PDF files with some other app or service besides Acrobat which is a dedicated PDF viewer.

Which operating system do you have?

Thank you for your answer to my dilemma. I use Win10 and I have used Adobe Acrobat DC for years and never had this issue before. The files I am accustomed to be able to open whenever I needed them simply don't open anymore. Adobe puts up the message: Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open 'Blood Sugar Chart.rtf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
One file I use frequently I named "All about my babies" which has lots of information about my 3 furbabies. I can't open it anymore and that is really upsetting!

I really hope you can help me! I suspect something happened in an update possibly but I really am at a loss. I am not as tech savvy as most kids these days. I think I am doing good at 69 years old but now my old pc just might be going before I do...😖

If they are indeed RTF files, you can read them in Microsoft Word,  Windows WordPad or Open Office.

Thank you! I have Windows WordPad, but I don't know how to do what you say. I have fussed and fumed and cried. Some of these files I have been in and out of many times over the years and now I can't?

Ok, so I guess I should try changing my file to .doc somehow? I don't know how. I tried to change it, but the only option was to notepad and it came out an unreadable mess... 😩

1. Open your Windows app from the Start menu (WordPad, MS Word, etc...).

2. Go to File > Open File and select the file you want from your computer.

That's it. 

I can't state it any simpler than that. If you still need help, ask a computer savvy friend or family member for assistance.
