Save PDS as txt works fine on some files, but returns an empty file on others. I've checked them using Foxit and it works just fine, returning correct txt files. Any ideas?

I got the same results in Reader XI. Very strange.

I tried it in Acrobat and it did output some text, but also gave this error message:

My guess is the file is corrupt or was created in a non-standard manner. The fact that there's no information about how it was created under File - Properties supports that as well.

What does work, though, is simply selecting all the text in the file, copying it and then pasting into a blank text file.

Hi Olafb,

When you say that you are saving a PDF file as a txt file, then how exactly you are doing it? What is the workflow of converting a PDF file to txt you follow?

I assume you are just saving a pdf file as txt file not exporting a pdf file to txt file using Adobe Acrobat application or any Adobe Document Cloud service?

Convert PDF to word doc, PDF to Word converter | Adobe Acrobat DC or Using Adobe Export PDF

If you are not using any of the method of conversion described in the links shared above, then it would be our out of support. As its must be working on other mechanism.

Let us know in details what exactly you were looking for, to help you further.

Regards,

Akanchha

Are you able to select any of the text using the mouse in Reader?

I can select text and copy/paste it. When I try to save the file via File -- Save As Other -- Text -- it looks like it's processing the pages and then returns a blank file, 0kb. I tried Foxit and it created a readable txt file. security settings look exactly the same as some other files that I can save as txt.
