Save/Flatten documents

I am in need of employing a save/flatten tool in acrobat reader. Apparently this is not possible, so I have read in these forums. I have through recent times complete various formal application documents and have saved them in reader before returning the the rightful department. I am wondering how they have achieved this.

Can anyone help me please - I desperately need to come up with a solution to save and flatten in reader!!

Reader can't flatten a file, period. It can set the fields as read-only, which is hardly the same as it can be easily reversed, and it can also lock the fields when the file is digitally signed, which is a much stronger protection.
