I just got a new PC running Windows 8, 64-bit, and I installed Adobe Reader XI. Whenever I open a PDF document, the screen resolution changes so that the display is huge. In fact, I can only see about 10% of the page, which makes it unreadable. When I close the PDF document, the screen resolution goes back to normal and everything is fine. This happens if I open a file that I've already downloaded, or if I click a PDF link in a browser (the whole browser display is huge), and it occurs both in IE and Google Chrome. I have no other issues with display in either browser, so it must be a compability issue with Adobe Reader XI and Windows 8, 64-bit. Please help. Thank you.

When the PDF opens, does it have a toolbar along the top saying ".... Adobe Reader", menus and so forth? Or does it just take over the whole screen with no borders at all?

If I open a "stand alone" PDF file, I have the "Adobe Reader" title, drop-down menus and such. If I click on a PDF link in a browser (IE or Google Chrome), the whole browser is huge. It is the screen resolution that changes, NOT the zoom level. If you lower the screen resolution WAY down in Windows, everything is HUGE, if you know what I mean. That is what is happening here with Adobe Reader. I was able to affect a "work-around" by downloading a third-party PDF viewer, and associating PDF files with the new program, but it is not the solution I'm looking for. Thank you for your input.

My Dad has the same issue with Adobe Reader (10 and 11) on his Windows 7, 64 bit PC. If you open Adobe Reader the desk top color is distorted and the resolition changes. but returns to normal when you close it.
Found some one else who has this problem and this is their screen shot that looks like my Dad's.
I have the same system and Adobe Reader (10 and 11) work fine on my PC.
A work around was we downloaded 'Foxit' PDF reader and set it as default and no more problem. Still would like to figure out why Adobe Reader failed.
Did you find the problem and if so could you post it.
Thanks

I just changed to laptop with Windows 8.1 and Adobe Reader 11.0.5 a dialog box and the Panel shrinks. The screen is changed, this is the case with two other software from Adobe: Lightroom 3.6 and Photoshop CS5.
What is the solution?

Ok, a different problem I think. The panel is actually the right size, but the text is too large.
I have seen this problem when the Segoe UI fonts (there should be 7 in the family) are removed from Windows. These are vital for many apps because Microsoft recommend them.

Here are two screenshots.
The first on an ASUS with for OS XP, the size of the panels is correct, 5.8 cm, the second on the SONY VAIO with Windows OS 8.1, the size of the panels is reduced, is 4.6 cm. The text "LIGTROOM 3 '' is 3 cm on the ASUS + XP, while it is 1.8 cm on the SONY VAIO + W 8.1.
This difference in size is the problem.

What is the resolution in pixels for the two different screens? The size in cm is not relevant.

The ASUS has a 1680 X 1050, the 2880 X 1620 SONY screen.

And more,
No change when I move the screen of 2880 x 1620 a 1680 X 1050 on the SONY.

The screen shots look correct for the resolution. What gives you the idea that the size is "wrong". If you run a screen with high resolution, many things will be smaller. All the other elements are smaller too. Seems to be working perfectly, only your expectations are at fault.
Clearly, though, the Adobe Reader screenshot is wrong. Did you check the fonts as I suggested.

Yes, I check Fonts Segoe:
1 Segoe Print
2 Segoe Script
3 Segoe UI
4 Segoe UI Emoji Normal
5 Segoe UI Symbol Normal

Laxia, the problem with fonts on the the start screen is a known issue with Adobe Reader on hi-dpi screens. We are working on it and hope to resovle this in the next update.

AbhigyanModi,
Excellent,
Can you tell me, what is for the display of Lightroom 3.6 and Photoshop CS 5 ?
The panels are reduced (see on 8 reply) on the SONY VAIO SVF.

You should post that question on the Lightroom and Photoshop forum:

AbhigyanModi, is it the case that the Adobe Reader bug is that some text is too large, not that the panel is too small? I believe all the panels are the right size, as designed and as (I) expected, because they have a fixed size in pixels.

mvp, on my screen, the panels are small, and the text so.
See on reply 8, at the top left, the name LIGTROOM 3, 3 cm on ASUS XP and 1,8 cm on SONY VAIO.

If the panels are too small to read, your resolution is too high for your screen, and you must reduce it. Adobe's serious applications have always been so.

mvp, if I reduce 2880 X1620 to 1680 X 1050, it is the size of the image that is reduced.
It no longer fulfils the entire screen. And the problem remains total.

VEry unusual and unhelpful. That seems broken. Every other device I've ever seen scales up. Perhaps you can tey 1440 x 810, worth a try. Otherwise your hardware is simply unsuitable for the current generation of Adobe apps. Ultrahigh density pixel displays is on the increase so I expect Adobe will offer choices within a few years. It must be a choice because pro users typically buy high resolution screns, which are huge, so they can fit in many, many windows and work more effectively.
as i said the only thing that is actually wrong is your expectation. Sorry, but you need to understand that.

I regret that the evolution of the quality of the screens is put forward to promote display of beautiful photos, and therefore sales of laptops.
While the software to develop them are lagging.
And no one said.
I bought my software Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS 5 in auguste 2011. Twenty-nine months, which is expansive month / photos.
