The Adobe application error referencing memory at 0x0000000000018

When I open a PDF document with Adobe Reader (25.001.20432), I get the following error:

The Adobe application error referencing memory at 0x0000000000018

So far, I have tried the following prescribed approach:

  1. Update Adobe Acrobat: Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat installed. Sometimes, updates include fixes for common errors.
  1. Run Compatibility Troubleshooter:
    • Right-click on the Adobe Acrobat program.
    • Select Properties.
    • Go to the Compatibility tab.
    • Click on Run Compatibility Troubleshooter and follow the recommended settings
  1. Disable Protected Mode:
    • Open Adobe Acrobat.
    • Go to Edit > Preferences.
    • Select Security (Enhanced) from the left pane.
    • Uncheck the box labeled Enable Protected Mode at startup.
    • Restart Adobe Acrobat and try opening the PDF again
  1. Use Adobe Cleanup Tool:
    • Uninstall Adobe Acrobat.
    • Delete all folders/directories named "Adobe" on your local drive (Program Files, PF x86, Common Files, etc.).
    • Use the Adobe Cleanup Tool to remove any remaining files.
    • Reinstall Adobe Acrobat

I also insured all of the latest updates are applied in Windows 11 Pro (64-bit), both from Microsoft and from dell.com/support.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It's been 24 days now. Has this been resolved?

Hi @Oliver265881603llk,

We understand the situation and how frustrating this could be.

The team is still working on it, and the fix should be released at the earliest.

We are experiencing the same issue. Do we have an estimated time for a fix?
