OK, to cut to the chase …

XFA forms are not supported by anything other than the desktop versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat. Specifically, they are not supported by either the Adobe Mobile Reader for iOS or for Android.

Nor do most third party PDF readers support XFA forms on mobile devices.

XFA is an obsolete format, precisely because there is no support on any iOS or Android device.

It should work on Mac, but only if the user downloads the file and downloads Acrobat Reader. Mac users tend to use the built in Preview viewer unless highly motivated.

If you have a full AEM license, AEM includes a component for dynamic (live) conversion of XFA to live HTML5 form. This is the reason Adobe still make Designer, not for the delivery of XFA files to end users.

I dont have AEM. We have developed these forms in Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Apart from AEM, let me know there is any solution in Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Even AEM license is very costly.

A robust solution is to develop HTML5 forms directly. Yes, you can develop PDF forms with Acrobat, but even there the end user must take special steps to use them, and mobile functions are limited. As you will know, your XFA forms will not work in Edge, Firefox or Chrome on Windows and this is a major nuisance for inexperienced users who ofte do not understand the message or how to download; the same problems may apply to Acrobat forms. Of course in your testing you must include Windows (four main browsers), Mac, iOS and Android.

PS: can a bank really accept forms designed with LiveCycle Designer, which is past EOL? I would expect stricter rules.

What has the XFA form to do with the EOL of LiveCylce Designer? XFA forms are carried by a Shell-PDF that conforms with ISO 32000, so there's no reason to ban those files

I wouldn't expect a bank to allow EOL software to be run, anywhere in their production chain. So at least I'd expect AEM Designer to be used.

It makes no difference if a XFA form has been developed by LiveCycle Designer or AEM Forms Designer, the forms haven't changed since the ES4 came out. The Designer is the same piece of software, only with differnt name and logo. Since it doesn't need any network connection to run, you theoretically can run it endlessly. EOL doesn't mean to swap your software, just you won't get any updates anymore for it. But if your environment is self-sufficient, you just don't need them.

I don't think you can expect Adobe staff to share the name of non-Adobe products....

Using my Mac M1, I was able to download Acrobat Reader from here:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

There you can open the XFA file
