I'm a Mac user. When I try to edit a pdf created from a scanned book, I get a message that the document is uneditable. I've tried exporting it to Microsoft Word and that hasn't worked either. I'm a small book distributor and making minor text changes is my whole reason for subscribing to Adobe Acrobat Pro. If I can't edit my book scans, then I don't need the Adobe software. What's the deal? Thanks.

What is the exact message that you get, in full?

"Acrobat has detected that this page does not have editable text or has scanned content. Such documents are best edited by converting to another format using the Export File option in Content Editing Panel."
Thanks so much for following up. I'm not a digital native and I'm totally stumped by this!

You may be expecting the impossible. But perhaps not. What version of Acrobat Pro is this?

If you subscribe to Acrobat Pro, you may install Acrobat Pro DC. Acrobat Pro 11 is already obsolete and out of support.
Many changes were made to PDF editing in Acrobat Pro DC, and it MIGHT just edit your file, MAYBE.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Keep in mind that you will have to run character recognition before you can edit the text. Even with Acrobat (any version) you can't edit text if it's simply a scanned image of text.

Doesn't DC work out that there isn't any text and run character recognition when you try to edit? (Never tried it myself)

That's a good question. I'm still running XI. It could be.

I downloaded Acrobat Pro DC, opened my document, clicked Edit PDF, then Recognize text, and was able to make the changes I wanted. Thanks sincerely for the help!
