Question

Unreasonable memory usage on Mac

Anyone else find that Reader consumes a horrid amount of RAM?

Right now, with just a single, 364kb pdf open, Reader is eating up over 1GB of RAM on my Mac MBA M1. That seems excessive in the extreme, and I've seen it go higher than this the longer I leave the app open.

Suggestions on how to tame this?

Thanks.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat Reader DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20169 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes

And when I try to use the check for updates option, I get this message:
An error occurred. Please check for updates again later. Error: 104

Hi there,

You may try to download the patch manually from this link https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html
