Sorry for the delay in response.

You may use cleaner tool to uninstall the existing installation from your machine: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs .Once uninstallation is done restart the machine.

Keep the new step downloaded: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Try installing again and it should work. Let us know if that solves the problem.

I made a normal deinstallation, it was the version 2015, and installed 2017.

But I would be interested in this fault and solution if sth like that may occur again.

Adobe has no solution for this fault.

Thank you for responding back.

There are a number of reasons for this error and is a generic error code. It usually happens if there are traces of the previous version on a user's machine, especially in the registry of an operating system.
