UTF-8 in comments in PDFs doesn't work

When I add comments to PDFs, it works well (with utf-8, so ÅÄÖ works, Swedish letters).
When i send the PDF to the customer (by mail) to review the comments in the PDF, then the comments are not in utf-8 (ÅÄÖ = doesn´t work).

What should I do, so UTF-8 is enable in the PDFs comments (so the customer can read the comments without strange characters) ?

Just a note that UTF-8 is NOT used in comments. Comments can be in Unicode but they are converted to UTF-16. This shouldn't matter unless you are looking inside the PDF file for your comment.

It sounds as if the PDF viewer you are using doesn't support Unicode, while Acrobat Reader does. Saving to the computer AND using Reader fixes it; but just saving to the computer itself won't, if a person still doesn't use Reader.

I solved the problem myself.
In order for comments to be displayed with uft-8, the PDF must be saved to the computer.
The problem lies with the e-mail client when you open the PDF directly in the mail, which may vary depending on where the domain is located (i think)...
