Question

Why do I have to sign in to my Adobe account to use Acrobat Reader DC?

Hello all,

Today, for the first time, I was required to enter an "Adobe code" and also provide my Adobe credentials just to use Reader. This is not an app I purchased; nor have I purchased/licensed any optional features.

It's not particularly convenient to have to sign in each time I use Reader.

Hi Beki

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are required to login everytime you use Acrobat Reader

Please check out the steps provided in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/acrobat-keeps-asking-to-sign-in/m-p/11525698 and see if that works for you.

So if we are *required* to log in to use Acrobat Reader *everytime* [sic], in what way is Reader a free app?  Is that just false advertising? I pay a ton of money to Acrobat for their top cloud subscription and of course they limit my ability to use the product across the several workstations that I use, two at home, two mobile workstations and one at my office. I'm constantly having to log out of one of them to be able to work on the one that I'm sitting at. It's incredibly annoying. And then, adding injury to insult, I am required to log in to my account just to quickly view a pdf on the fly now. I've been an Adobe user since the first pdf protocol was rolled out. The corporate culture, as communicated to users via their pricing and product support has never been greedier or lazier, imo. They have taken the bar from Microsoft and lowered it significantly. They are just all over the place with product development. No consistent vision at all. And they are tone deaf AF when it comes to their users. I am just so mad about this, this morning. Just trying to get some work done preparing for a major presentation next week and this stupid roadblock has totally triggered me.  So, official Adobe-heads, tell me. Where is this free Adobe Reader DC product that I should be able to use without logging in?
