Hi all,

we are installing following version of Adobe Reader DC (v2015.017.20050) on Windows 10 (1607).
The problem is, that there is no icon after installing 'Adobe Reader DC' after searching in the startmenu. The problem is also not solved if I change the icon manually.
Is this issue known or do you know about a solution for this issue?

Thank you in advance.

Hi emrea5328891,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Try once to rebuild the icon cache. Please refer the steps provided in the reply 12 of this thread:  Adobe Reader icon not showing on Windows 10

Check if this resolves the issue.

Let us know if the issue still persists.

Hi emrea5328891,

To change the icon of the Adobe Reader DC on Windows 10, please try the following steps:

  • Remove, unpin or delete Adobe Acrobat icon from the Start Menu, the desktop and from the taskbar.
  • Go to C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs and you'll find the "Acrobat Reader DC" with the wrong icon that looks like a shortcut. Delete it and close the window.
  • Go to C: > Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Acrobat Reader DC > Reader and find AcroRd32.exe
  • Right click on AcroRd32.exe > Send to > Desktop
  • Right click again on AcroRd32.exe > Pin to Start Menu and close the window
  • Now right click on AcroRd32.exe shortcut on your desktop > Copy
  • Go back to C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs and Paste the shortcut here (Make sure you have administrator rights for that)
  • Rename this shortcut from "AcroRd32.exe - shortcut" to "Acrobat Reader DC"
  • Close the window

Now if you open any PDF document, the right icon will appear on the taskbar.

Let us know if it helps in resolving the issue.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi meenakshin83966505

Thank you for the reply. This is what I already did as workaround.  But it solves not all my problems. Because this solution just works for following paths:

  • "C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs" --> Looks well again
  • The shortcut on the Desktop --> Looks well again

But it still shows me with broken icon after I click on start button and enter "Acrobat Reader DC" or "Adobe Reader DC".

Is that same on your machine?

Hi emrea5328891,

Please try once to use cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs to remove the application.

Restart your system and then re-install the latest version of the application from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Let us know it this helps.

Meenakshi
