Hi Jo,
The Reader version which is supported on this os version was Reader X. And that is no longer available for direct download reason being Acrobat/Reader X is declared an end of support product version. Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader X End of Support | Adobe Document Cloud
End of Support means that Adobe will no longer provide technical support or distribute runtimes, including product and/or security updates, for all derivatives of a product or product version (e.g. localized versions, minor upgrades, operating systems, dot and double-dot releases, and connector products).
You can download Reader X from this link: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader There is no security update available for this version.

That's ok. There are no security updates for Vista anymore either.

If you are going to use Reader X on Vista, then I recommend version 10.1.4 from the year 2012. Personally, I prefer using Reader XI on Vista; but support for that product has also ended, and I have grown weary of explaining that software supported on Server 2008 will also run on Vista.
