The app store won't allow me to download an earlier version of acrobat and

the iPad is 1st generation so it can't update to the latest ios.

Hi scottl9873574,

Would you please take look at the following forum threads to see if it works for you?

Re: How do I get a version of Adobe Reader for an IPod touch with IOS 6.1.6

Re: Reader on iPad 1

The same steps described in the forum threads should work for the first generation of iPad running iOS 5.1.1.

Please let us know if it works for you.  Thank you.

Hi scottl9873574,

You can look at the App Store for the same if an older version is available.

The app store only gives the latest version.

‌iOS apps can only come from the app store. There is no other way to get an app.
