Apple Pencil pdf

I have 9th generation iPad and 1st generation Apple pencil

It is connected but I don't have the option in pdf to write, scribble etc with the pencil.

There is no blue pencil icon to allow this.  
How do I activate the pencil icon

It works in word

I have watched tube to no avail

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

When you open a file in Acrobat Reader Mobile, you will see an icon on the top showing a freeform. You can click on that icon to use your open pencil and make the annotations.
