Could you please share a screenshot of the error you get when using liquid mode on the your iPad? I tried to reproduce the issue on my end and was able to use Liquid Mode on the PDF you shared.
Also, please share the below information for better investigation:
1. The iOS version you are running on your iPad;
2. The version of Acrobat Reader Mobile you are using.
