Print related issues on Acrobat Reader Mobile

I have been trying to troubleshoot an issue for a couple of months now. I AirPrint PDF files to an Epson printer. For over a year I had no issues. Now the documents preview correctly but then often have black boxes around many of the graphics.

I am a teacher and school starts soon!  I have so much to prepare and have wasted so much time, ink, and paper. The printer help desk seems to think it is a program issue and not a printing issue.

Was there an update recently that changed?  The same files don’t print properly any more.

Solution 1:

Upload your pdf to Google Drive then print it by clicking the print icon in the top right of the screen

Solution 2:

I finally found the fix to this.  It IS a Mac issue.  The fix is to go to the file then click on it and hold, then press control and click "open with Adobe".  You should then be able to print it with no problems.

Solution 3:

I was able to fix this issue by going to Properties > Imaging > uncheck "Print test as black" and "Print graphics as black".  I suspect it was the "Print images as black" that was the actual problem, but I dont have the time or inclination to verify that, I'm just happy it's no longer printing large sections of solid black.  Oh, the steps I mentioned are from within Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Hope it helps someone.

Solution 4:

The only way I found I could print in adobe PDF on my Chromebook is to share the document to the printer app for my printer. [open document]>share>share copy>[choose the printing app or plugin for your printer]>choose printer>[format the print job. i.e. number of copies/pages/etc.]>print. Kinda tedious but it works.

Solution 5:

Solution to Adobe app forcing you to print to Google Cloud>

Install the adobe extension from the Chrome Web store.  This allows you to print from your installed printers

When I receive a password protected pdf document (email), I can successfully open the document and see it, but I cannot print the document. I get an error message on the iPad saying I don’t have the right password. Help!

What do the document properties (security) say?

Is printing allowed (or not) ?

The documents I wish to print are protected. How do I change this so I can print from my iPad? I have previously been able to but since getting a new ipad I can not.

Hi Jarrodl,

You need to check the document's properties using the desktop application (because that cant be checked using mobile app).

Document>Right Click>Document Properties> Security>Printing If its "Allowed" then there should be any problem and if printing isn't "Allowed" then you need to change the document's security settings to be able to print it.

And that is only possible if you own this document or the document was created by you. Else you need to contact to the creator of the pdf to allow changes to the pdf.

How to change the security settings-

  1. In Adobe Acrobat, choose File > Properties .
  2. Switch to the Security tab.
  3. Beside the Security Method list, click the Change Settings button.
  4. Type the Permissions password in the Enter password box and click OK. In the Password Security - Settings dialog that appears, you can change or switch off the security settings for the document.
  • Modify the security settings in the Password Security - Settings dialog:
  • To remove all security from the document, disable the Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password will be required in order to change these permission settings. option.
  • To allow copying of text, images, ... select Enable copying of text, images, and other content; to prevent copying, clear the checkbox.
  • To enable document assembly features, from the Changes Allowed list, select Inserting, deleting and rotating pages; to disable them

select None.

Let us know if there is any further assistance is required.

Akanchha

Have pdf that's password locked.  Once I've unlocked and opened the doc it won't allow me to print and says cannot print as it's password protected.  Yet I can print from my desktop pc once I have unlocked.  Need to print payslips and don't want to start up the dinosaur desktop.

I don't think I'm getting what you mean exactly.

If you can't print from your desktop, how else are you opening the file?

A pdf can contain a password for open and a password to be able to reset security that allows/disallows printing. I don't think that's the case here since you can evidently print it somehow.

I can unlock and print from my desktop pc all good there.  But from my mobile once I have unlocked the pdf and try to print it says password protected and unable to print even though I have already unlocked and viewed the doc.

After I edit a pdf using the Adobe app on my iPad (eg, adding my name to a document), I am able to save the document with the edited text added to the document. But, when I go to print the document on my Canon Laser Printer, the edits do NOT show on the document.

Do I have to pay for the Premium package for such a little thing...? Thanks...

Hi,

By "edit a PDF", do you mean filling out a PDF form?  You do not need a paid subscription service to fill out and print a PDF form or add comments/annotations, such as Highlight, Freehand Drawing, Sticky Notes.

Would you be willing to share your PDF document with us (Adobe)?  I've sent you a forum private message with the instructions on how to share your PDF document.

We will examine your PDF document and let you know what we find.

Thank you for your help.
