Why can’t I copy text in Acrobat Reader for iOS?

New Here ,
Feb 05, 2023 Feb 05, 2023

I have been trying to copy text from a pdf document, however I can't seem to do so. I noticed that in one of the previous updates that it mentions copying as being a part of subscribing. Does that mean I am no longer able to do so without having a subscription?

Hi @Patrick28272000gdqu,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

There was a delay in the selection response time in the previous versions, which was fixed later with the updates. Would you mind checking if you have any pending updates for the application?

If that is not the case, please share a screen recording of the scenario so we can understand better and assist you accordingly.

Look forward to hearing from you.

-Souvik.

There isn't exactly an issue with selection time. The problem is that when I do select text, it does not give me the copy option.

Sorry I didn't send this earlier, but here is the screenshot. Though, it sounds like my suspicion that I would need a subscription to copy text was correct (at least judging by what other people have said in this discussion).

@Patrick28272000gdqu Hi,

Thank you for bringing this to us. I tried reproducing the issue on my end, but it worked fine. I tried without logging in to any account (basically as a guest user), still got the option to copy text.

Would you mind trying with a different PDF than the one you are using right now?

(screenshot of what I see is attached)

Apologies again for the late reply. I tried it again with a PDF document I made in the past and it is still giving the same results.

hi Partick28272000gdqu,

Thank you for contacting us. It sounds like your PDF document is a scanned PDF without OCR. Do you mind to share a sample file with us to see if it is the case?

Thank you for your patience,

-derek
