Problem with Adobe Reader DC and SAP

Community Beginner ,
Jan 14, 2017 Jan 14, 2017

Similiar to known issue 3950975 - during viewing PDF files in SAP getting back is very slow, about 20 seconds.

Only one solution was to go back to Adobe Reader XI

Issue exists on computers with Win7 x64, IE 11. SAP Gui version: 7.40

Do anyone has solution what to confgure/what to do to get it working correctly in Adobe Reader DC?

Thanks I was able to downgrade to just adobe reader XI (We didn't need to uncheck any options) and it works like it used to. Acrobat XI was giving that open save pop up but Reader XI doesn't.

Hi all,

Disable the security mode is not a solution and downgrade the adobe to XI also is not a good option consider I have a 1000+ users.

Hopefully Adobe can come out with a good solution for this.

Hello fuwe

This problem does not apply to Classic and hence there was no Classic release. Can you please share the exact steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing on Classic?

Thanks,

Hi ashumittal,

we can repro the issue within the Classic track.

The error occurs in version : 15.006.30279, 15.006.30280

Exactly the same problem as described above

After rollback to 15.006.30244 everthing was working fine. No Performance leaks in this version.

Hi kaid14984377,

We can see lag of around 15s while closing any file through SAP. We have installed Reader 15.006.30280 on  a Win10 machine. Is that the exact issue which you are facing? If not can you share with us the workflow and the environment details?

Regards

Soumik

We are working in a RDS-Environment:

Windows 2008 R2 Server

Citrix XenApp 6.5

SAP GUI 7.40 Patch 11

Adobe Reader 15.006.30279 or 15.006.30280

Users starting SAP GUI as a Published Application within a Citrix XenApp Farm.

SAP GUI is published via Citrix Storefront.

Users start SAPGUI as expected. Adobe Reader is configured to be used “in-Place”.

After looking at a Invoice Document for example, which is nothing more than a PDF Document the closing of the SAPGUI Mask needs 20 second to close.

Work-a-round was the rollback to  15.006.30244 and closing needs less that 1 seconds.

Another work-a-round was to configure SAP GUI to open the PDF Documents out-bedded.

So disabling the in-place feature within SAP GUI.

Thanks for sharing. We will try with the environment you suggested. Just out of curiosity do you have Acrobat installed on this machine too? If yes can you share with us the version?

Hi!
In the middle on 2018 we had the same Problem in . After al long time of testing we got a solution form Adobe.

In 2019 our users were happy and had no problems...
But with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 19.021.20049 the solved problem came back...
Is there someone else with the same Problem?

Hi, We have the problem that with the latest version of Adobe Reader DC 2020.013.20064 the PDF view in SAP takes 20-30 seconds to open. Protected mode is disabled. When i install the Version 2018.011.20063 it works normally. Is this a known problem?

Hi, we also experience the same issue with Adobe Reader DC 2020.013.20064 and SAP Logon 7.50.
Opening/Previewing documents in SAP is very slow (20-30 sec too) and switching from document to document make SAP Logon to exit abnormally.

More than 100 users impacted...

Hi,

Same issue with version 2020.013.20064. Very frustrating, the protected mode has been disabled, opening pdf from SAP GUI 7.40 is very-very slow, and it works only once, for second try it crashes, and usually gives an error, saying "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (103:103)"
Any solution for that?

thanks

Gabor

Hi, same problem with SAPGUI 7.60 PL8. Since Adobe Reader DC 2020.013.20064 ist installed, it takes 10-20 seconds to show a PDF-preview inside the GUI. With Reader Version 2020.009.20063 installed, everything works fine.
