Adobe Acrobat XI Pro does not launch.

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro does not launch.  When I try to open a file the curser just blinks and spins.  The process starts and stops in task manager every 2 seconds or so until the computer is restarted.  Acrobat previously worked without error.

I followed the path for windows 7:  Windows 7/Vista) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version] but there is no Preferences folder.  I can find it on other machines, but not this one.

suspend av/antimalware.

right click the exe > click 'run as administrator'

if that fails:

uninstall acrobat xi using the uninstaller.

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer

reinstall acrobat xi
