Copying a comment/text box from one PDF to another, it pastes as all code instead of text

I am copying hundreds of text boxes (the call out box) from one PDF to another (I have 2 screens). Most of the time when I copy it (command + C on my mac), it pastes a bunch of jibberishy code, not the text I intended to copy.
