Hi Raj -

No, not at all. Once you have the text in the screenshot captured, it's just a matter of leaving that PDF open while you're assembling all your cut and paste content, adding the copied text from the captured screenshot as necessary.

Hi there -

No, it doesn't work like that unfortunately. But here's a weird idea that just may work for your project.

In your Windows Explorer or Mac Finder show the source files in a list view. Then do a screenshot of the list.

Convert the screenshot to PDF in Acrobat, and capture the text.

Now rather than having to go to your file list utility, you can just copy it from that captured PDF and paste it to your sheet.

This is such an odd idea but I bet it would work. Would you like to see it in a video? I'll do a test shortly and post the video later this afternoon. I have to see if it'll work myself

Thanks Donna that eliminates some steps but surely it still takes longer than simply typing the source file name under each paste ?

Hi MrBluesGuy ,

Could you please attach a screenshot of the issue you facing so that we can analyze the issue at our end.

Also please let us know the OS version and the Acrobat version you have ?

Hi Sarojini,

Thanks for your interest

I have not yet bought Acrobat as I need to know if it has this functionality.

Simply put I have several research papers with annotated sections (e.g. Introduction, background etc..) and need to cut and paste these sections

Into introduction.doc, background.doc etc. Is there a way of having the original .pdf filename appended to the bottom of the paste so I can trace

Individual sections back to their source pdfs?

Perhaps I need some other software for making scrapbooks ?

Cheers

Raj

Hi Raj -

Acrobat will give you the functionality that you're looking for with the file names. It won't extract the metadata automatically from the source document, but there's a quick workaround.

Copy the name of the pdf file from the list on the Home page in Acrobat DC. Then go to your document containing the pasted material and press CTRL/COMMAND + V to paste the file name to the pdf page. Acrobat places the text into a new text frame on the page.

I hope that works for you.
