Question

How to get an audio file I created in Acrobat Professional to play in Reader?

This is frustrating me no end.

Using Acrobat professional, I embedded an audio sound file. Why? Because the pdf is an English learning tool - I am playing a conversation had between 3 people.

I embedded using the media insert function.

I made the control box floating so it is out of the way and replaced the standard activate button with my own "play" icon. It works perfectly in acrobat when I test.

But...

When I save as pdf and then send to somebody who only has acrobat reader, they cannot play the sound. there is no error at all. The button is just completely inactive and nothing happens when clicked.

Any expertise here is sincerely welcomed.

Regards,

Robert

I suspect that they are not using Reader even though they have it. For example they may be using a web browser or email app to view the PDF. These mostly use their own technology, not Reader.

Ask your user to save the file to their desktop, start Reader, and use Open from the File menu.
