i am having trouble searching specific text

for the most part searching text works great but sometimes it just doesn't want to find what i ask it to.

What application are you using? Are you able to select the text with mouse, letter by letter? If so, what happens when you copy it and then paste into another application (like Notepad)?

I am using Acrobat DC to search within numerous scanned documents. (vehicle registrations for our company fleet) I scan them in, do the conversion to editable or recognizable text and when I search specific Unit #'s most of the time it pops right up, but sometimes it doesn't.

You answered only the first question out of three... But I can guess what's going on. The quality of your scan is not very good and as a result the text is not being recognized in the OCR process, or not being recognized correctly. If you do the steps I've described above you'll see that you can't select it, or if you do that it comes out incorrectly when you paste it in another application. Therefore you also can't search for it.
