Question

I have tried to combine files into one PDF on my Mac. It does create the file, but when you open it you can't scroll through the whole document. It tabs them on the left hand side.

I cannot seem to scroll through a PDF file once I combine them. It tabulates them on the left.

I am really hoping it is a setting issue and not that I am working on a Mac. I want to buy this program, but not if I can't get the PDF to completely be ONE scrollable file...

Could you tell me what program you used to generate the pages and what program you are using to 'combine' the pages into a pdf?

I'm not sure what you mean, "It tabs them on the left side." if you are using Preview to do this, you have the Thumbnails open, and that's how you scroll. If you close that window (little split page window at top left of doc), you then just scroll through it with your wheel or however your mouse scrolls. (see screenshot). The PDF is complete.

Pretty much the same with Adobe PDF reader, though Preview can do a lot more, almost as good as Acrobat Pro.

Thank you for your response.

I have been struggling with this issue for a week now, but I think I just figured out the problem.

Basically I was combining PDF files, but some of the PDF files were multiple pages. I thought that when I used the “combine” tool that it would combine the single sheets to these multiple page PDF files…but it didn’t. It just combined them into one file, but when you opened the file it was separate sections (i.e., the title page was there, but not connected to next multiple page file). Anyhow, it appears I need to “extract” and and “insert” pages…and that finally worked for me. My boss and co-worker didn’t have to do this extra step, and they are using Dell Computers…so maybe it’s an extra step with the Mac, not sure…but pleased I found a way to get it done.

Thank you again!
