Make Acrobat DC the default for opening PDF files in iBooks

New Here ,

I have subscription version of Acrobat DC, running on an iMac with OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.  I have a large number of PDF files in iBooks, so that I can view them on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac.  Until the last upgrade to OS X, when I double-clicked on a PDF in iBooks it opened in Acrobat DC, like I want it to.  The last update to OS X changed the way iBooks stores PDF's (maybe all files) to use iCloud, and not sync using iTunes.

Since the last upgrade and conversion to iBooks using iCloud, PDF files in iBooks ONLY open in Preview, and will NOT open in Acrobat DC (I cannot right-click or anything to force them to open in another application).  I have Acrobat DC correctly setup as the default application for PDF file types.

How do I fix this so that PDF's in iBooks will open in Acrobat DC?

Thanks.

Hi ,

Please launch the PDF with Acrobat>edit>preferences>general>Click on "Set as Default PDF printer" and click OK to save changes.

Now your PDF' would open with Acrobat.

Not sure I understood your answer correctly, but, there is no preferences under Acrobat | Edit, for the Mac version.  It is under the Acrobat Menu, and under General, there is no setting for PDF Printer.

Thanks.

Hi ,

For MAC OS Version , please try this step :-

Select any PDF file, then go for file menu  > Get info > open with > then select Acrobat Pro as default > Then click on change all > then you will get a window under which click 'continue'.

Let me know if it works.

Regards,

Yatharth

Yatharth, I HAVE already associated PDF's with Acrobat, and changed all, but...it's still opening in Preview.

Thanks.
