PDF converting to "fast web view" when using pre-flight profile

Hello,

I have recently updated to Acrobat Pro DC from X and am coming across an issue when creating a PDF using a pre-flight.

The PDFs I create need to remain without "Fast web view". When I saved and ran the profile in Acrobat X, this did not change. Now in DC using the same process, it changes it to "Fast web view". I am using the same profile in both versions.

I have tried turning off the "Save as optimises for fast web view" in the general preferences. This didn't fix the issue.

I also turned off "Optimise the PDF for fast web view" in my regular PDF Optimiser settings in case that was related. That didn't fix it either.

Further details:

The pre-flight profile I am using is a slightly amended version of the standard "Convert to PDF/A-1b" profile (changes are to colour settings only).

I have created the original PDFs from InDesign, and the PDFs do not have fast web view enabled.

I know there are many other, better, more direct ways of creating PDF/A files, but I am working with legacy systems that require the PDFs to be made in a very specific way.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi ,

Please provide the Application & OS version installed on your system .

Also share your profile settings as well along with the workflow .

Is this happening with all the files or with certain files ?

Regards,

Yatharth

Hi - I am running Acrobat Pro DC version 2015.016.20045 on Windows 7.

I've actually now tested many other profiles including some basic standards such as "Convert to greyscale" and it's happening with all of them.

It doesn't seem to be a problem isolated to my original workflow, but a general issue with the Save as function within the pre-flight process, not following the settings I've selected in the preferences.

As far as I can tell, there are no preference settings for PDF/A that would specify fast web view on or off. Where did you specify this setting?

It's in Edit > Preferences > General > Documents > Save As optimises for Fast Web View.

I don't think this is an issue just isolated to PDF/A files. It appears to be happening when you "Save As" during any pre-flight profile.

Does the original "Convert to PDF/A-1b" profile behave the same way?

Hi - Yes, since I found this problem, I tested several other profiles including that one and they all behave the same way.

This may be a new feature in Acrobat DC. Any PDF with fast web view enabled is still a valid PDF, so even with fast web view on, you still have a valid PDF/A-1b file. Only Adobe staff can tell you if this is working "as designed", or if the change in behavior is a bug.
