Start up speed with Acrobat and Windows 8

Using Windows 8. Adobe Acrobat is very slow to open and says not responding for over a minute. How can I speed this up?

You indeed have the latest version of Acrobat.

Did you encounter this on the first launch or is it happening every time you try opening Acrobat?

I recently reinstalled, hoping to solve the problem, so presumably the latest version. Says 2015.010.20056.
