Why does my Acrobat 8 crash when i try to edit the color of a text field box?

when i try to edit the color of a text field box. the acrobat program exits and i get a window pop up with problem details and system Configurations. 

I lack the resourse to upgrade from CS3.

Can anyone help?

Acrobat 8 is quite an old version. If you're running it on a current operating system (like Windows 10, or even Windows 8), it's not going to be compatible and errors might occur.
