What I did at the time was copying the data to a disk drive and install from there... That was especially interesting when doing multiple installs for multiple users.

It looks like Adobe removed the ability to download Acrobat XI entirely. Bummer...
Keep in mind that Acrobat XI is no longer supported and it is recommended to switch to Acrobat DC.
So in your case, you would be better off purchasing an external CD drive and install Acrobat XI from your original CD. These drives aren't expensive

It should be possible for perpetual licensees to get a download link, if they can prove ownership of the license. A workaround is to copy the content of the CD from a different computer to an external drive/USB stick and install from there.

Not anymore, I guess:
» Adobe Limits Software Version Downloads, Incl. Some Direct Links - ProDesignTools
and
"Please note that going forward, Creative Cloud customers will only have direct download access (from the Creative Cloud Desktop app and Adobe.com) to the two most recent major versions of Creative Cloud desktop applications.*
*Exception: Only the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat is available for download."

Perpetual license holders need to contact customer care and they will be provided with the necessary download links. Not all the patches where available on DVD. The links are just no more available for the public so anyone not proving to be a license owner can’t download it.
