Question

Can you lock a fillable form so it doesn't prompt signer to complete?

I have created a fillable form with many fields.  I want to complete the form and send it to multiple signatories.  The problem is when they get the form any fields I have left blank (such as check boxes), they are prompted to 'start here' when all I want them to do is sign rather than edit the actual form fields.  Any help would be appreciated....  Can you lock the form so the fields are not editable once it is sent for sign?

    Hello Mish26,

If you have created form within EchoSign, then you can make the fields as read only( as you are the one who is filling the details) by double clicking the field and checking "Read only" and saving it in preview page before sending it out.

Thank you for replying Rijul.  The form is quite complex and it was created in Adobe Acrobat DC before importing it into E-Sign.  It would be very time consuming to have to change every field to read only and save, before sending it out as this form will be used and sent for signature with different details on it frequently.

So am I correct in saying that if you have created a form in Acrobat, someone has completed the form (only the fields they require) when they send it for signature the person who receives it will be prompted every time to complete the fields that have been left blank???  Surely I am not the only person with this problem???

    Hello Mish26,

Ideally, the cursor in Signing interface will move to each field in document and it's upto the signers to fill the blank text fields or not. Now, if you have made them mandatory as well, then it will require signers to fill in to complete e-signing process. So, if the form is created in Acrobat and few fields are not required by signers to fill or modify, the only workaround ( and best suited) would be to make them read only.

Let me know if you have more questions.
