Reviewing Documents After Signing and Sending Back for Modifications

Our flow looks something similar to this:

  • Employee fills out a packet (60 pages, a lot of redundant information (name, SSN, zip code, etc.) and signs
  • Client signs
  • Support Broker reviews form for erros

If there are errors on the form, le's say the employee mistypes their zip code (populated throughout the packet incorrectly) or enters a wrong phone number (fat-fingers the wrong number on their cell phone while filling out the form), the Support Broker needs to either correct the error or send the form back to the employee to correct the error.

Is this functionality possible with Acrobat Sign?

DocuSing has "collaborative fields" where the final signer can make changes to the Document, initial it, and send it back out to the signer to initial the changes. Does that sort of flow exist with Adobe Sign?

Obviously, if I have a contract that needs to be signed, I get it... once signed, that's that. But if there are form fields that need to be filled out, there's almost always a chance for errors. That has to be addressed somewhere, right?

That wasn't the question... but fine. Feel free to elaborate a bit and answer the question without some relevant dialogue.

In Acrobat Sign once a filed has been completed, either with text or a signature, it cannot be modified.  This said, it cannot be sent back for review. The field is locked.

Here you can see how and when a sent document can be modified.  And it is only available for Acrobat Sign for Enterpise.  Modify an agreements documents in-flight (adobe.com)

I've read up an Modifying agreements and that doesn't quite fit what I need. I do agree that this doesn't seem like something that can be done.

With that said, how does Adobe handle errors in these Documents? Let's just say a simple Tax Form like the I9. It's a base form in Adobe Sign, available to me as a template.

If I type in my wrong Social Security Number and submit the form... what happens when it is discovered that the information is wrong? It's a Tax Form, I MUST have my correct SSN.

There must be some way to handle this? Back in the day, we called it WhiteOut. We were able to correct these errors by whiting out the errors, letting it dry (a few seconds), and writing in the correct response.

What is the WhiteOut equivilant in Electronic Signing?

Sadly, the only way is to resend the form for signature and verify the information before sending.

Hi CBDaniels,

Thank you for reaching out.

The workflow you are looking for might not be available via Acrobat Sign. As mentioned by the mariahweyne, Once the document is signed, it is not possible to make changes to it. However, we will check with the team once if it is possible.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
