Turning off Auto Field Detect on Adobe Sign

New Here ,
Nov 16, 2023 Nov 16, 2023

Hi,

I'm working on v23.6 and since I've upgraded Adobe has been auto detecting fields on my forms and I can't seem to stop this from happening.  I mainly use for Adobe Sign and on the old version I used to click the box and Adobe would automatically fill it with a signature box.  As you can see from the pic, this isnt happening now.

I saw another post advising Preferences, Forms, and toggling the Auto detect form fields but his hasn't worked.

Any suggestions?

Hi Empowerer,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the delay in response.

Please let us know if this happens with all the documents or with the one on which the fields have already been added.

It would be helpful if you could share the screen recording to better understand the issue. We will get this checked.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hello,

Auto field detection is interferring with documents that I've prepared to send for esignatures.  The field detector overlays information I've already inputted on a form and either I have to try to delete the or send out hoping that the information I inputted is still there when the document is signed.  Also, when auto field detection detects several fields, it becomes a cumbersome task to remove the fields that were auto detected.  Is there anyway to disable this feature?  I'm spending too much time reformatting documents before and after signature.  Thank you.

I am pretty sure this has to be disabled on the end users side. This is where they can go to turn the setting off for themselves so that when they open your document it does not add fields and only the information you have input should show. Screenshot of how provided below.

Hi Kim - SK9SAR,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the information.

If you are referring to the auto-field detection when uploading a document to Acrobat Sign, you can use this option to enable or disable the feature from this option if you have an Acrobat Sign individual service level plan.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Auto-place is keeping me from using Adobe sign. I have written in for support numerous times, usually get a useless reply, such as 'just turn off that field' or 'don't request that function'. Obviously, I have tried, repeatedly, to disable the feature, but it persists anyway. I spend 2 hours on the phone, get escalated, and finally, a 'sorry, we can't help you'.

So, I have lost a lot of respect for Adobe.

I am having the same problem.  It seems like every time there is an update, Adobe creates further problems for users.  Why can't you just leave the program just the way it was before the update????  If it ain't broken, DON'T FIX IT.  Adobe Sign is causing such a headache now.  Whomever is doing the programming for Adobe needs to rethink things thru or go back to school!  I am also considering another esign program.  I've had it with Adobe Sign and Adobe Acrobat.  Is there a way to leave things the way they were????   I don't like the auto-place fields as they are interferring with getting documents signed or deleting information.

We are thinking of moving to PandaDocs at my company. These random issues are a huge headache, esp. with the number of users we have, and the number of documents we're sending for signature.

LATEST

This feature is not useful and interferes with the document. Please add a manual version.

This latest build is pretty annoying, every time I try to delete an auto-detected field it re-adds it in the exact same spot. This feature needs to be fixed so we can disable auto-adding fields.

I agree - this is super annoying when trying to send a document for signatures. I used to like using Echosign prior to Adobe. LOL Now, it's so cumbersome.

I am having the same issue it didn't use to do this. This is very annoying and needs to be fixed otherwise I'm going to have to start using a different e-sign service.

Hi

Has anybody got a solution for this? If they change the document it will invalidate it and waste time. And I can't tell them to ignore sections for the same reason. Please help!

Hi

To get around this issue, I "Switch to the Legacy Version".
On the left it has view more on the fields section, and then at the bottom it has a button to switch to legacy version

This is beyond annoying. This 'feature' not only converts the fields into editable fields, it changes the formatting.

How can we turn this off?!

I reckon I have this sussed guys. I had the same issue tonight with a document with instructional steps. So.... switched to legacy mode and not more auto-recognised form fields. Give it a crack yourselves.
