Unsupported file type for send for signature

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2016 Oct 26, 2016

I have made a fillable PDF form but, when I try to send for signature, it says it can't send because it is an "Unsupported File type".  It gives no guidance at all about what is supported and what is not.  i would have thought a PDF form made in Acrobat DC should be automatically supported.

I can't find any useful guidance on this on the web.

What goes on?

This kills the whole purpose behind this! If this is an HR form that HR does not want the user to muck with...just complete and send for e-sign, then this is useless!

Although these are way back in 2018 but since it pops right up on my search engine, i think it's worth while to provide a solution that doesn't require the removig of security. Compressing the file through thirdparty pdf platforms works like magic for it to become a supported file for adobesign! I hope this helps!

Although this question was asked in 2016, I just experienced this same issue.

I printed to PDF and saved the file, it flattens the file.

I then opened the newly saved file and it allowed me to add the e-signature request.
