Adobe Express - Font view only

New Here ,
Aug 27, 2024 Aug 27, 2024

Hi, I was hoping for some help/ advice.

I have created a brand in adobe express and shared it with my team. When they access the brand and try to use the template it shows up that the fonts in the template are view only.

We have tried uploading the fonts onto there adobe express however this only adds the fonts generally and doesn't replace the view only fonts. So it still says the fonts are view only even when they upload there own versions.

It seems to be whoever uploads the fonts to the brand can use them however everyone else it is shared with can only view them.

I was hoping for some help with this!

Hey @Keld25, Welcome to our Adobe Express Community!!

If you're using a custom font to create a template or brand, ensure all the collaborators/team members have uploaded the same custom font. Until this is done, they may be unable to use or edit the project.

Let us know if this resolves the issue you're facing!

Hi

@Sarah361732976twc

We're sorry to hear about this. Please let us know few things before we proceed further.

  1.  Are the fonts you and your team using licensed or custom fonts? If custom, how were they uploaded?
  2.  What type of access (view/edit) do your team members have to the brand and templates?
  3.  Are all team members using the same version of Adobe Express, and are their accounts linked to the plan?
  4.  Have you tried recreating the template with the fonts after the fonts were uploaded.

Regards,

Tarun

Hi @alexa_1421,

Thanks for your patience. Please ensure that all collaborators are using the exact same font file, as even slight differences in font versions can cause this issue.

To troubleshoot, try uploading the font in a new document to see if the issue persists. If the problem continues, please share your Adobe ID so we can investigate further.

Regards,

Tarun

Hi @Amitej S  and @Tarun Saini , whats that best contact email to report the same issue I am having for my co-workers. I have created a brand library (including fonts, shared it with everyone in the same way. Some upload the font into the system and they are good to go, whereas others upload the same files into the system and then it says files are already uploaded, but it won't let them use the font. Heeeeelp!

Hey @Analiza S, thanks for posting here! Since the Nexa font is an Adobe Font, it is not required to be uploaded. You may need to ask all your co-workers to activate this font from https://adobe.ly/463Ss7A.

The Upload font option in Adobe Express is to upload non-Adobe fonts for brand management.

Try this and let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi @Amitej S I have just downloaded the Nexa font on Adobe Fonts however it's coming up as 'Nexa Text' and the letter A is actually different to the licenced version I have for my organisation so we can't use this version of Nexa. Any other tips? For some reason, half the team can access Nexa (including myself), but the other half are having the same issue from the screenshots I provided.

Hi. We've just come across the exact same issue. I've seen a video elsewhere that suggests we need to add our brand fonts via Creative Cloud. Is that true (as another post here suggests otherwise)?

Note:

  • I uploaded the brand assets (incl. the fonts)
  • I also created and then gave my team access (they show up as such in the sharing box)

Hope that helps!

Thanks.

UPDATE - FIXED! I've just added the fonts again via the  text panel in the new design and I can now edit the text :party_popper:

Note: When adding this way, I had the option to upload to one of our brand kits or my stuff, and I chose one of our kits.

Questions:

  1. Will we need to do this again for each new design and/or member of the team (i.e. not just me)?
  2. Will we need to do this for designs using other brand if the font is shared with them?

I am having the same issue. I am working with a design team to provide a variety of brand kits which need to include one Google font (over 50 kits). Is Adobe saying that even though I have uploaded the font and added to a brand kit/s, my marketing colleagues (142 of them), with who I have shared the kit with also then needs to upload the font? This can't be right?

Hi @iamkate_OX , Welcome to our Adobe Express community!

As of now, this is the workflow available for individual users. However, if you're an enterprise user, you can utilize the Admin Console's custom fonts feature. This will let multiple users get access to the custom font directly without uploading it manually.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your quick response Amitej. Is there any plan to have this same feature in the Teams licence? As these are also teams/groups of people rather than individual users.

Hi @Tarun Saini thanks for your reply. You have shared a link to the pricing comparison page.  I can't see any reference to 'custom font feature'. Can you tell me whether the same feature exists in the Teams licence please?
