New mobile app is a huge downgrade

I used to do photo collages all the time to post on social media for work but I can't work out how to do this in the new app. Even opening old files you can't just replace a photo on a collage or add a new one.

Please bring this feature back as a priority.

Hi @Education worker

Thanks for providing your feedback. Here's a quick summary of the Collage (aka Grid) functionality in the new version:

Accessing grids:

  • Add a new grid from the Grids panel
    • Mobile: Click the + button, then scroll the bottom rail for the Grid option
    • Desktop: Check the left side bar
  • Desktop-only: select a set of images inside the editor, then select the Create collage button
  • Several templates also use grids. And, of course, many of your designs created in the previous version have grids

Note that you can now add multiple grids to the same page (you can move/resize them freely, or you can set one grid as a background object)

Replacing photos: there are two ways to do this

  • With the grid selected, tap once more to select a photo then click the Replace button
  • Desktop-only: drag and drop from a media/asset panel or from you device

Resizing/repositioning photos:

  • With the grid selected, tap twice. You can now drag the image around or resize with the corner handles. On mobile, you can also use the Transform panel

Some of the Collage/Grid functionality from the previous version is indeed missing, notably:

  • Adding/removing grid cells
  • Changing grid layout with a single tap
  • The ability to start a new Express file, populated with a grid of photos you choose outside the editor

Hope this helps,

Abhi G
