Single Grid in Adobe Express

New Here ,
Aug 04, 2025 Aug 04, 2025

Hi there, does anyone know if it is posssible for you to havea a single grid in Express?

I have a dessign that I reuse for different images, and I just want to have the placeholder there, and just drop in the next photo. I can only see 2+ grid options, not single.

I appreciate I could just drop the image, and resize etc, but it would be much easier if the grid was fixed, and all I had to do was swap out the photo.

Thanks in advance

Richard

Hi @RichardChubb,

Thanks for reaching out! At the moment, Adobe Express doesn't offer a single-cell grid option by default — grids are designed for multiple images. However, there’s a simple workaround:

You can place an image where you want it, size and position it exactly how you like, then lock the layer (right-click > Lock). For future designs, just replace the image by selecting it and choosing Replace Image — this keeps the position and size intact.

We appreciate your feedback — a fixed single-grid placeholder is a great idea, and I’ll pass it on to the team!

Hi, thanks for the answer

My design is complicated somewhat by the fact I can find a white border for the template, so I have to put in a square, with zero fill colour, and a white border, which means this asset has to sit over the image.

It means I have to swap the assets round, change the photo, then send the image underneath the square again, so the white border is on top.

Thanks

Hi @

Hi @RichardChubb,

Thanks for the clarification.

I see that managing the border as a separate overlay complicates swapping images since you have to rearrange layers each time. Unfortunately, Adobe Express doesn’t currently support fixed layer ordering or single-cell grids with built-in borders.

For now, your workaround is the best option, but I’ll emphasize this specific pain point in our feedback to the team.
