generating incorrect nationalities

No matter how hard I try, I can't get Firefly to generate 'vikings' with the correct nationality. I get four variations and only one is a northern European. When I ask it to generate a northern European, it makes no difference: the originally generated versions stay the same - practically identical.

@선미22530658ny81 We use the location indicated in your profile to show people with similar ethnicities to your region. If you have a specific ethnicity you want to see in your images, please indicate it in your prompt. This will override the region default.

That being said can you share a link to one of the image you created the using the prompts with the issue you described?

It is set up to create people according to your region. If those people do not match your region, then please report it as a bug.

If they indeed do match your region, but you want different people, then please specify that in your prompt

I'd like to reply with a question to the Adobe Firefly engineers/staff or Community Experts about the Firefly documentation that details this issue when generating people, whom unbeknownst to most I would think, according to your profile's geo-location? The issue seems to have improved when you specify the ethnicity or country in the prompt though. Previous version of Firefly I sometimes had trouble getting the correct ethnicity even though I specified it.

When writing a sentence "woman on a motorcycle with two female police officers dancing" most images show Latino or black women.

Typing in "very handsome black man" to replace a face gets a whole lot of images that seem excessively stereotyped, in some cases flirting with caricature. What kind of art depicting Black people did y'all find to put in this thing?Screenshot 2024-02-22 224146.pngScreenshot 2024-02-22 224432.pngScreenshot 2024-02-22 224515.png

@Decastro20 The AI is taking into account your regional area. If you want something specific - then be specific in your prompt instead of allowing the AI to make its own interpretations.

Hi there

same kind of problem here. I try to generate a portrait of a woman in the 1960s with a reference image. I always get asian woman, despite my very clear prompt to get a causacasian woman.

"color photo portrait of a white caucasian ginger woman with clear blue eyes, in the 1960s with voluminous round hair style"

The eyeliner on my ref picture is quite bold, so maybe the AI got confused, but same thing happened on all the images I tried before. Also, the makeup I end up with is always very thick and modern, like the clothes and the hair styles…

I tried to check my region on my account but I don't know where to find it.

Thanks!

I am experiencing the same problem.  No matter what I prompt (caucasian, european, etc.), I continue to get only asian people in my images.

Overtly stereotypical generated images of people is very bothersome, which is still based on the user's location. It is simply getting out-of-control. Firefly continues to have this systemic problem. Firefly blatantly over-portrays culture, and it's actually offensive in some instances. In the example images, my prompt asks for a 'hobbyist remote-controlled airplane'. Nowhere did I mention a Japanese woman in a kimono with the backdrop of Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms! Like I've requested before, the solution is to have a direct control in the form of an on/off switch and/or a 'intensity slider' for generating regional culture. It is not right that Adobe keeps telling us just make the prompt more accurate, otherwise Firefly is going to assume you want a stereotypical image. In fact, Firefly should not have any regional bias to begin with, because it isn't necessary.

Thank you for your message. I am sorry you are having this problem.

Try using the word "caucasian".

White-skinned and light-skinned work for me, so perhaps you just need to keep trying.

FWIW, it is possible to be caucasian and not have white skin.

Yes, but in general, the probablistic nature of the model is that it will select the "likely" case rather than any possibility. The creator of an AI model can override that probablistic nature. It does not appear in the case of the word "Caucasian" that it has been overridden.

@SamanthaFury1966 what specific prompt and styles are you using?

Rearranging the prompt to give weight/importance does make a difference.

Putting "Caucasian" first and eliminating the duplicate references to light skinned/white help too.

You can try changing aspect ratio, use "wide angle" camera angle, use terms like "zoom out" in prompt. If all those fail, you can try sketching the player and use that as a composition reference or take an image that is cut off into Generative Fill and expand it.
