Photorealistic Images

Community Beginner ,
Dec 07, 2023 Dec 07, 2023

Hello -- I'm new to FF after having used MidJourney for a few months. I have not been getting photo realistic images out of FireFly. Every image I generate looks like art work -- painting or drawing. I'd like to be able to generate variations on my reference image, using my prompts as a guide. Is this possible? If not please consider it a suggestion! (I'm a Mac OS user on Sonoma 14.0, Using FireFly 2)

What prompt did you use and did you try to add a reference style from one of your photos or select from the reference image gallery, I do it all the time, and the reference image, is helping a lot, also you can try to change visual intensity and add your photo settings, also you can add words in advanced settings so it remove that from generated image. But please if you can tell the prompt and the tags that you selected from effects gallery, maybe I can guide you what to remove so it will be realistic photo

Thanks for your reply. I did use my own reference image and at first got a good image generated back. But modifying the original image doesn't give equally impressive results. I am playing with the photography settings -- I'm an experienced photographer -- and that's helpful as you say. But I just tried a prompt that I used with success in Midjourney -- "A Beautiful young redheaded woman on Commercial Street in Provincetown Massachusetts, summertime, a realistic photographic portrait in the style of Joel Meyerowitz" Midjourney knocked that one out of the park -- FireFly's ouput just isn't as good. In both cases I didn't use a referene image because I don't want to directly rippoff Joel's images. I'll keep working at this -- I'd like to use Adobe for most of my photography related stuff. I'm having good luck with new features in Lightroom -- denoise and HDR.

Here are two of the results from FF and MJ -- The MJ one is much better using a very similar prompt. (MJ is on the left)

I tried those prompts

A Beautiful young redheaded american woman in casual clothes very close to camera and looking at the camera with her blue eyes, on Commercial Street in Provincetown Massachusetts, summertime, a cinematic portrait, street portrait photography, closeup shot, eye level shot, side profile angle shot, vivid colors, old grainy film camera style, vivid colors

I will share full screenshots
I used prompts like these but sometimes I used different prompts and effects. Also I excluded some words, you can see them in the screenshot too (sun from behind, old woman), you can see them in every screenshot.

I searched Joel Meyerowitz and tried to make it with those prompts, it's kind of hard to make  and some mistakes you can correct with generative fill, I do it all the time. And yeah it's very difficult to make because we are very strict about copyright. But I think it's worth it.  🙂Screenshot 2023-12-09 at 13.11.51.pngScreenshot 2023-12-09 at 13.11.38.pngScreenshot 2023-12-09 at 13.11.16.pngScreenshot 2023-12-09 at 13.04.42.pngScreenshot 2023-12-09 at 13.04.22.pngScreenshot 2023-12-09 at 12.26.57.png

Thanks! Your last effort seems te best but still not close to Midjourney's output. I'm actually more interested in black and white photo illustrations so I'll work on that for a while. I'll come back to see if FireFly gets any better at this kind of image. Thanks again -- very helpful!

Thank you too :), I'm also copying the genewrated image and add it in photoshop and experimenting with generative fill and healing removing and other tools. Also the adjustment layers are very helpful too.
I hope I could help you with something

@Mariam Hovhannesyan Thank you for all your help. @frankw71143602  This is excellent feedback. Recently, the Firefly team released a way to rate images to help train the model.
