Dynamic Link Issues Mac Big Sur

Me and my team have MacBook Pro's 16inch 2020 models with 64GB Ram and 5600m's with 8GB HBM2 Mem.

We all have the identical issues that have been present for the past few months and we are at the end of our wit.

Exporting renders form AE to AME when first opened places the project in the rendering list on AME but pressing play and it stalls, not preview down the bottom, nothing.

Trying subsiquent times nothing gets added to the queue.

Force closing both apps (have had to force close apps for the past few months even on clean OS installs, applications always not responding if you just choose quit).

Importing the AE file and comp manually into AME does not work, connecting to dynamic link for a long time then times out with an error unable to locate source ( or something to that effect ).

Once in the rare case they get added to the AME list clicking the preset to change it also has a long dynamic link loading bar that does nothing and times out with unable to locate source.

What can we do, are adobe aware of this?

The new beta versions of the app also do not work.

Further investigation has found that the localhost dynamic link server is being blocked by Box Drive, turning it off allows it to connect fine, issue is all projects are on box drive. Is it possible to change the port that Dynamic Link uses so that it does not conflict?

Good troubleshooting work!  As far as Dynamic Link being blocked, that's probably a question for Box Drive support.  We're close to being there with working with the local version of cloud storage, but not yet.

As a workaround, you could render a ProRes file from AE via the After Effects Render Queue and then drop that into Adobe Media Encoder for creating your delivery file.  If this is for social media, I'd go with Apple ProRes422 LT to save a little on the drive space.  This should work fine from Box Drive, but you'll want to test it.  Once the AME encode is finished and the exports have been checked, the ProRes422 LT files can be deleted.

Hey Warren,

I have the same issue and it's driving me crazy 😉 It started about 2 months ago, eveyrthing was working fine before.

Media encoder gets stuck when rendering and gives a lot of error messages.
Now I can't even configure it, get the error attached.

I tried everything, and nothing helps. I even re installed my mac from scratch hopoing it would solve the issue, no luck.

I understand the work around, but we go through a large amount of files daily and using the work around is painful.

On top of that, even if I drag in ProRes files to ME, it now always fails to rneder the first file.

We use drop box for some of our projects, but the larger video project are on hard drives and the issue is still there, so it's not related to drop box, plus it was working fne before on drop box anyway.

Are you guys aware of these problems? Is this Big Sur related? Any update on a fix? Was really hoping the new version would address this.

Many thanks,

Adam

Have you tried working from a location that's not a cloud-sync location?

This is the error after the dynamic link finally gives up.
