I cannot export my AE composition straight to AME; AME will open but my comp won't be there. I can, however, add my comp to the AE render queue and then send it to the AME render queue from there, and it shows up, but when I try to render it in AME or adjust render settings it pops up as a Dynamic Link Server Connection failure and then it tells me "Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again."
I have the 2020 AE and AME; and funnily enough what does work is rendering it in AE into a .mov, then uploading that .mov into the AME queue from AME, then it'll render and go into an .mp4. However, making it a .mov takes away some quality and so I'd like to avoid that if possible!
Any help would be appreciated; I've already tried the instructions from most tutorial posts on here and they don't work! 😞

Update: I tried cleaning both the AE and AME disk caches and was able to upload 1 AE comp successfully and render it through AME... however, it was only that 1 that worked- every single other one still doesn't, which is odd as there's nothing that really differentiates it. So, I know it CAN work, it just still doesn't.... weird!

I am very sorry for your issues. I do not have a repro yet.
Just to be sure: you tried these default things? –
Can you please try the following:
Please let me know if this workaround works for you.

They're both the 2020 version, and otherwise those steps don't work, unfortunately.

I will give it another try. Which OS, CPU & GPU are you using?

Sorry, how do you find those?

The CPU/GPU is Apple M2, and the OS is Sonoma 14.1.1

Although I forgot- at the time of the issue my OS was Ventura. Since I've upgraded to Sonoma, neither After Effects nor Media Encoder works at all, the applications won't open, as I know many people have experienced. So, I guess my issue about the Dynamic Link is no longer relevant, seeing as neither application works now🤷🏻:female_sign:

I am very sorry for your issues. Do you see any messages when trying to launch AME directly?

After Effects users were reporting similar issues with macOS 14. It looks like an OS-related issue has been introduced.
Can you try these troubleshooting steps:

Please let me know the outcome.

Did you do any macOS software updates lately?

I haven't updated the software since upgrading from Ventura to Sonoma. When trying to launch either AE or AME, it begins to load but then says there's an "unexpected error" and cannot open, and it shuts itself down. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting steps don't work- same thing continues.

Wow. Sorry for your issues. Do you get any Crash dialog? Can you try deleting or removing the <user>/Documents/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder /<version> folder to verify access issues. Also the link I provided above might be useful to try. Please let me know any outcomes.

For crash dialog, there's a popup message during the loading screen that says "After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup" and when you close the message it closes the application automatically. I removed the folder you mentioned, but it didn't do anything for AE or AME.

Yes, it didn't do anything.
