Encoder 2020 wont take a lot of media files - installing older version

I can't use Encoder 2020. To many files it won't take/convert. Encoder used to be that program that could fix anything. Encoder 2020 feels like it got it's arms cut off.

I have reinstalled 2019.

If you can't open any file then the issue is not with AME 2020 itself, it's likely an issue on your machine. It could be a permissions issue. I had a similar issue on Windows at one point. Try following the instructions in this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/fixing-startup-permissions-problem.html

Can you show a screenshot of the footage specs? What codec are these clips encoded with? Support for legacy QuickTime codecs was removed from CC 2018 after Apple officially stopped supporting them: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/quicktime7-support-dropped.html

However, if you're definitely using CC 2019 then it could be something else. Without the format information of these clips it's hard to say what's going on. If you open them in QuickTime X does it start converting them?

Also, what version of macOS are you using?

I'm running macOS High Sierra v. 10.13.6

Nope, the mov file open just fine in Quick Time - and yes, I know what you were refering to, but it's not happening to these files. The Codec is H.264

Hmm. But is it not a bit strange if you look at the screenshot I added before, that in CC2019 I'm allowed to open mp4, jpg, png and mov. While in 2020 I'm not allowed to open anything? I been checking a little around and I'm not even allowed to open mp3's or newer mp4 files - it seems that my CC 2020 is completly without any codec?

Can you please be more specfic and post screenshots that detail your issue? What do you mean by about too many files? I don't have any issues with AME 2020 and I recently converted almost 100 files in the same queue with no issue.

Of error messages I have none to give because I was simply not allowed to open the files in the first place:

Here you can see the same screenshot from the earlier versjon - no trouble at all:
